“Hi there, I’m Emily! My passion for paper-folding started after a diagnosis of anxiety and later ADHD. I found origami had a soothing effect, with the rhythmic process leading me into a 'flow' state, easing my busy mind.
I started Femigami by teaching friends how to fold ‘taboo’ body parts (including origami vulvas and penises) which wasn’t only fun, it helped us talk more openly about our bodies with less embarrassment.
Today, I lead my workshops across the UK in spaces such as galleries, education settings, festivals and libraries, folding everything from origami hearts for mental health awareness to origami breasts for sparking health discussions.
Femigami promotes the importance of bodily autonomy, caring for ourselves and respecting others, making connections across all genders, generations and backgrounds, while honouring the roots of this ancient art-form.
I’m also a trained mindfulness practitioner, writer for a national mental health charity and hold a Master of Design from the University of Brighton. The common thread connecting my roles is a desire to help people of all ages feel more comfortable and confident in their daily lives.”

"Femigami made for a fabulous afternoon, Emily was thoughtful about the type of event we needed, sensitive to embodiment and wellbeing, and not least fun to have host our workshop session! Thank you, Emily!."
