Our story
Hello, I’m Emily — an origami artist and mindfulness practitioner who uses paper-folding as a tool for wellbeing, connection, and facilitating more open conversations around our minds and bodies.
I’ve delivered Femigami workshops across the UK for people of all ages (often in my gold, sparkly cape) and I have been lucky to host them for a wide range of organisations, such as galleries, festivals, health and education settings.

How it began
My journey with origami began 8 years ago following a diagnosis of anxiety, and later ADHD. I discovered that the simple, rhythmic act of folding paper helped calm my mind, allowing it to enter a “flow” state, supporting stress reduction.
I began teaching friends traditional origami folds, before developing playful, body-focused folds, for my feminist origami workshops. These workshops revealed something special: folding together created a relaxed way to talk about our bodies, emotions, and experiences — making sensitive topics feel easier and less embarrassing to discuss.
About Femigami workshops
Today, my workshops use origami to:
Support mental health through mindful, screen-free making
Build connection between participants of all ages, backgrounds, and genders
Facilitate open, supportive conversations around health and wellbeing
Offer a joyful, accessible, low-pressure activity for groups to enjoy together
Appeal to different audiences, ages, and themes
Supportive & inclusive
Origami acts as a shared focus, allowing conversations to unfold naturally — side-by-side rather than face-to-face — which can feel especially supportive for those who find traditional workshops challenging.
Femigami champions inclusivity, caring for ourselves, and respecting others, while honouring the roots of this ancient art-form.
Qualifications & training
I hold a Master of Design from the University of Brighton, I’m trained in trauma-informed mindfulness approaches via NHS based training, and I have Public Liability Insurance and a full DBS check.
